What We DO
The Channing Gray Foundation exists to restore safety, regulation, and choice for people recovering from trauma.
We advance survivor-centered aftercare through research, trusted services, and partnerships that scale what works. We’re not just a program; we’re an evidence-building foundation. We learn from survivors and providers, measure outcomes, test innovative models, and share what works so communities can deliver safer, better, and more accountable care.
The Stables at Channing Gray offers Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAT) as a specialized, trauma-informed service for individuals living with post-traumatic stress disorder, including survivors of human trafficking, veterans, and others who have experienced trauma. Our licensed clinicians and certified equine professionals work with clients and carefully selected horses to create safe, structured experiences that foster regulation, trust, and a sense of agency. We use evidence-informed protocols—groundwork, horsemanship, and, when appropriate, mounted activities—alongside standardized outcome measures (PCL-5 for PTSD, PHQ-9, GAD-7) to monitor progress and ensure high-quality care. Current peer-reviewed research indicates that equine-assisted services can temporarily decrease PTSD symptom severity in veterans and other trauma-exposed groups, while highlighting the need for ongoing rigorous research; we incorporate EAT as a complement to proven therapies and collaborate with referring providers.
